OCR PDF Online
Extract English text from scanned or image-based PDF pages directly in your browser.
Browser-based OCR
Your PDF pages are rendered and recognized in your browser for this tool. OCR performance depends on your device, document size, scan quality, and available memory.
How to OCR a PDF
Select your PDF
Choose a scanned or image-based PDF containing English text.
Choose the pages
Process all pages or enter a page range such as 1-3, 5.
Copy or download the text
Review the recognized text, edit it if needed, then copy it or download it as a TXT file.
Extract text from scanned PDF pages
Scanned PDFs often contain page images instead of selectable text. OCR, or optical character recognition, analyzes those images and attempts to recognize the words shown on the page.
This tool renders selected PDF pages in your browser and applies OCR to extract English text. Recognition accuracy depends on scan resolution, image clarity, font style, page rotation, handwriting, background noise, and document layout.
The current version extracts text for copying or TXT download. It does not yet rebuild the original document as a searchable OCR PDF.
Frequently asked questions
What is OCR PDF?
OCR PDF uses optical character recognition to detect text inside scanned or image-based PDF pages.
Does OCR work on handwriting?
OCR is generally more reliable on clear printed text. Handwriting recognition may be inaccurate, especially with cursive or low-quality scans.
Which languages are supported?
This first version is configured for English. Additional OCR languages can be added later.
Is the OCR performed on a server?
For this tool, supported PDFs are rendered and recognized directly in your browser. Large files may therefore use significant memory and processing power on your device.
