AI PDF Summarizer

Extract selectable PDF text and generate a short, medium, or detailed AI summary.

⚠️

AI processing notice

The PDF file itself is not sent by this interface. Its selectable text is extracted in your browser, and the extracted text is then sent to the configured AI provider to generate the summary. Do not submit confidential information unless your privacy policy and provider setup permit it.

How to summarize a PDF with AI

1

Select your PDF

Choose a PDF containing selectable text. For scanned PDFs, run OCR first.

2

Choose summary length

Select short, medium, or detailed depending on the amount of information you want to retain.

3

Generate the AI summary

The extracted text is sent to the configured AI service, and the generated summary can be copied or downloaded.

AI-powered PDF summarization

An AI PDF summarizer can reduce long reports, research documents, business material, meeting notes, and other text-heavy PDFs into a more compact overview.

This tool first extracts selectable text from the PDF in your browser. The extracted text, rather than the original PDF file, is then sent to the configured AI provider to produce the requested summary.

AI-generated summaries can occasionally miss context or make mistakes. Important legal, financial, academic, medical, or business information should always be checked against the original document.

Frequently asked questions

Is this different from the regular PDF Summarizer?

Yes. The regular Summarize PDF tool uses extractive scoring in the browser. This tool sends extracted PDF text to an AI model so it can generate a new natural-language summary.

Is the original PDF uploaded to the AI provider?

In this implementation, the PDF is parsed in the browser. Only the extracted text is sent to the server endpoint and configured AI provider.

Can it summarize scanned PDFs?

Image-only PDFs do not contain enough selectable text for this workflow. Use OCR PDF first, then summarize the extracted-text version.

Can AI summaries contain mistakes?

Yes. AI summaries should be treated as a convenience, not as a replacement for reviewing important source material.
